Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu – In a historic display of international cooperation and military prowess, India is hosting the largest multinational air exercise in its history, Tarang Shakti 2024. Held at the Sulur Air Base in Tamil Nadu, the event brought together air forces from around the world, showcasing the latest in aviation technology and strategic capabilities.
From August 6 to 14, participants from France, Germany, Spain, and the United Kingdom joined forces with the Indian Air Force (IAF) in a series of complex aerial drills and missions. The exercise aimed to foster interoperability among participating nations, allowing them to learn from each other’s tactics and operational procedures.
One of the highlights of the event was the participation of the locally built Tejas Light Combat Aircraft (LCA Mk-1), which proved its mettle in realistic combat settings. The LCA was praised by Air Chief Marshal VR Chaudhari for its performance alongside larger and more modern global fighter jets.
The exercise also featured a spectacular aerial display by the Sarang Helicopter Display Team, showcasing the IAF’s precision flying skills. Additionally, high-ranking officials from participating countries flew in various aircraft, including the Su30MKI and Tejas, demonstrating their commitment to strengthening international defense ties.
The event was not only a showcase of military might but also an opportunity to highlight India’s booming indigenous defense ecosystem. The IAF’s Vice Chief of Air Staff, Air Marshal AP Singh, emphasized the importance of India’s goal to become a developed nation by 2047 and the country’s move towards ‘Atmanirbharta’ in defense.
Tarang Shakti 2024 was a testament to India’s growing role as a global leader in defense and aviation technology. The exercise not only strengthened international military cooperation but also served as a platform to showcase the latest advancements in the field.
