Sheikh Hasina Alleges US Role in Ouster

Former Prime Minister of Bangladesh, Sheikh Hasina, has claimed that the United States played a role in her ouster from power due to her refusal to allow the establishment of a U.S. air force base on St Martin Island. The claims were made in a recent message from Sheikh Hasina, who is currently in India, where she fled after resigning from her post on August 5 amid escalating violence by Islamic Radical elements of Jamat-e-Islami, in garb of students protests and subsequent Military takeover.

According to Sheikh Hasina, she could have remained in power if she had surrendered the sovereignty of Saint Martin Island and allowed America to hold sway over the Bay of Bengal. The former Prime Minister expressed her deep sorrow over the killings of hindus, rapes of hindu women, and acts of vandalism, stating that her heart cries upon receiving news of these events.

The Islamic Violence against minority Hindus in Bangladesh have resulted in over thousand deaths. The violence that followed Sheikh Hasina’s resignation has raised concerns about the stability of the country and the influence of foreign powers in its internal affairs.

Sheikh Hasina’s allegations of a U.S. role in her ouster comes at a time of heightened tensions between Bangladesh and the United States. The U.S. State Department has been critical of the government’s handling of the protests and has called for an end to the violence. The allegations are likely to further strain relations between the two countries.

The U.S. government has not yet responded to Sheikh Hasina’s allegations. However, the allegations are likely to be taken seriously, given the strategic importance of Bangladesh in the region and the growing influence of China and India in the country.

The situation in Bangladesh remains fluid, and the allegations made by Sheikh Hasina are likely to have significant implications for the country’s future. As the interim government takes over, the top priority will be to bring the economy back on track and restore the trust of the people in the government.
