A group of Indian authors, scientists, and eminent citizens wrote an open letter expressing their deep concern about the ongoing Hindu genocide in Bangladesh. The letter, signed by prominent figures including Dr Vikram Sampath, Anand Ranganathan, J Sai Deepak, Abhinav Agarwal, Dr Amit Thadani, Harsh Madhusudan, Dr Ratan Sharda, and others, highlighted the alarming situation faced by Hindus in Bangladesh.
The letter pointed out the recent incidents of violence against Hindus in Bangladesh, including the burning of an ISKCON center in Meherpur, the vandalism of multiple Hindu temples across the country, and the dissemination of videos showing rioters celebrating the lynching of Hindus.
The authors of the letter emphasized that since 1971, when 2.5 million Hindus were murdered by the Pakistani regime before the formation of Bangladesh, there has been an ongoing and systematic pogrom against Hindus. Reports indicate that there have been over 3,600 attacks on Hindus in Bangladesh since 2013.
The letter called for immediate action to prevent further atrocities and to uphold the fundamental human rights of the Hindu community in Bangladesh. The signatories urged the Indian government to pass a unanimous resolution recognizing the ongoing violence against Hindus in Bangladesh and condemning this wave of communal violence.
They also called on the Indian government to collaborate with international bodies such as the United Nations to press the Bangladeshi authorities to take concrete steps to protect their Hindu minority and hold the perpetrators accountable.
The letter reflects the growing concern among Indian intellectuals about the plight of Hindus in Bangladesh and their call for urgent action to address this issue.
