CHAMOLI, UTTARAKHAND – In a disturbing incident that has sparked widespread outrage, a Muslim youth was arrested in Tharali, Chamoli district, for intoxicating, raping, and filming a minor girl, then posting the video online. The incident, which reportedly took place in February, came to light only recently after the video went viral, leading to immediate public and police action.
Authorities confirmed that the arrest was made on October 10, 2024, after the victim’s family lodged a complaint when the video began circulating on social media platforms. The accused, identified as a barber in the local community, reportedly befriended the minor on social media before committing the crime.
Following the arrest, the situation in Chamoli has been tense, prompting the deployment of a heavy police force to maintain peace and order. Local residents have expressed their anger and fear through demonstrations in Tharali market, demanding justice and stricter measures against such heinous acts.
