Kerala Government has strictly directed all the scientific community to refrain themselves from studying or disclosing any information about the disaster in Wayanad area.
What is it that Kerala Govt doesn’t want us to know?
As I tried digging further, I found that the Heavy rains were not the only reason of Floods in Wayanad district of Kerala, It was just a trigger for a well engineered calamity..
The actual reason was Illegal Mining..
For more information, I read the Gadgil Report, 2011, As per the Report, The Western ghats, Specially Wayanad comes under extremely Ecologically Sensitive area, And anything like Mining or heavy Constructions of any kind can lead to a disaster.
Dr Madhav Gadgil headed the Western Ghats ecology experts panel set up by the Union Ministry of Environment and Forests in 2010.
The report raised serious concerns about the state governments’ seriousness in dealing with ecologically sensitive areas.
The state didn’t gave a tiny bit of attention & rejected the Report.
The report had clearly recommended that several areas in Kerala which come under the Western Ghats should be classified as ecologically sensitive, which was ignored then, and is still being ignored. Subsequently, the government rejected the report, with the disastrous consequences that we witnessed currently.
During the Kerala floods 2018, the state had clearly been warned about the future disasters, but The state ignored those warnings…
In 2024 As well, Before the #Wanayad #Floods, the Centre has issued an advisory, but State Government casually ignored that advisory.. Why?
Why was the state government so casual about all these warnings?
Is it because a group of politically affluent people are involved in illegal mining activities since 2016?
Why does the State Govt have provided the false data to the center about the rock Quarries?
For instance, there is a village called Koottickal where the government said there are only three rock quarries, whereas Google Maps clearly shows more than 30 Rock Quarries.
Keralites knew this, and they protested for more than 1000 days against the illegal
Mining Activities, but all politicians distanced themselves from that protest? Why?
Was it because a few mining deals were handled by T.Veena, the daughter of CM Vijayan?
Was the Kasturirangan commission formed to just shut the locals? Or Arrest them if they try to raise their voice against the quarrying done undemocratically?
If the quarry is leading to landslides and killing the locals, they have no right to protest against the quarry. This is what is mentioned in the Kasturirangan report.
Who is responsible for the Kerala Disaster? Is it CMRL? Is it P.Vijayan? Kasturirangan? Or Gandhi Family?
