New Delhi, August 24, 2024 – In a significant move aimed at integrating biotechnology with economic growth, environmental sustainability, and employment generation, the Union Cabinet, chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, has approved the ‘BioE3’ (Biotechnology for Economy, Environment, and Employment) Policy. This policy marks a pivotal step towards fostering high-performance biomanufacturing in India, as announced by Information and Broadcasting Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw.
The BioE3 Policy is designed to bolster research and development (R&D), encourage entrepreneurship, and establish specialized hubs like Biomanufacturing, Bio-AI, and Biofoundry. These initiatives are expected to accelerate technology development and its commercialization, thereby placing India at the forefront of the global bio-revolution.
